MSC Maya ship

MSC MayaMSC Maya is among the largest container ships operating in maritime transport. The vessel was launched in October 2015 and operate under the flag of Panama. The container carrier was built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in South Korea, under the yard number 4280. Into construction of such large vessel were implemented the most modern marine engineering technologies, following the latest IMO standards for environmental operations and safety. The ultra large container carrier MSC Maya has overall length of 395.40 m, moulded beam of 59.00 m, boards depth of 30.30 m and maximum draft of 16.00 m. The vessel is impressive in size and has deadweight of 197,362 DWT, gross tonnage of 192,237 GRT and net tonnage of 111,423 NT. Such large dimensions and tonnage, allow the container ship to carry up to 19,224 TEU or 14,000 FEU. The vessel has also 2,500 reefer plugs for transportation of temperature controlled containers.

MSC Maya vesselMSC Maya has also powerful and reliable engineering. On board of the vessel is installed one 2-stroke 11-cylinder diesel engine MAN B&W 11S90ME-C10, which has total output power of 83,780 hp (67,100 kW). The engine is environmental and emit 15% less CO2 emissions in comparison with older generation aggregates. On board is installed also computer controlled fuel injection system, which decrease consumption and improve the dynamic characteristics of the vessel. MSC Maya is driven by one fixed-pitch five-blade propeller with diameter of 10.50 m. All these engineering allow the container carrier to operate with service speed of 22.8 kts, while the maximum achieved speed during sea trials was 24.6 kts.

The ultra large container carrier MSC Maya is operating for Mediterranean Shipping Company on Far East-Europe service in the framework of the 2M Alliance. The vessel operated under the flag of Panama and has IMO number 9708679.
